Honoring Gil Deimel's Legacy Treasurer Position Now Open

As you may be aware, Gil Deimel passed away on February 22 of this year. Gil had been an active and dedicated member of both the Illinois Retired Teachers Association

and the Land of Lincoln Retired Teachers' Association (LLRTA) since his retirement from

Springfield School District 186 in 1994. He served as President of LLRTA from 1997-1998 and as Treasurer from 2017 until his passing. We are deeply grateful for his years of service, leadership, and friendship. To honor his legacy and ensure the continuation of LLRTA's mission, we are seeking a member to step into the role of Treasurer.

Due to recent structural changes within LLRTA, the Treasurer's duties are now simplified and primarily managed online through the Illinois Educators Credit Union.

Treasurer Duties:

  • Maintain the LLRTA account online via the Illinois Educators Credit Union.
  • Accept membership fees for deposit.
  • Write checks to cover occasional service-related expenses (e.g., minimal mailing or printing costs).
  • Attend Executive Committee meetings as needed to help set the annual budget and review expenses.

We encourage all members to consider applying for this important role and help continue Gil's legacy of service.

Thank you for your continued support of LLRTA.
