Core advisory group continuing to grow support

old train trestle bridge pillarsThe non-profit organization was formed in March 2007 by group of local Falls City residents and representative of mountain biking community.  We've held several public advisory/information gatherings at the community center in Falls City.

We are continuing to develop the idea for a trail along the Little Luckiamute River, and gathering much input from the neighboring land owners and residents of city/county.  New members have joined the core advisory board - as representatives of local business owners, youth, education, and outdoors enthusiasts.

Soon we plan to again approach the large industrial forestry management companies who controls much of the land where the proposed trail path would need to be routed.  When first approached with the initial vision for trail along Little Luckiamute river they stated that it was "not in their business interest", and that "upon initial review they were opposed".

So far that is the only major opposition encountered as we continue to gather public input and support for the trail.  This is an exciting project that the community is very much in support of, and will be a great asset to the city of Falls City and to Polk County - in terms of recreation opportunities, tourism potential, and general quality of life factors.
